Jimi Crowley is the child in the mind of Chris Lopo. Musician since 1992, he joined different independent bands in Porto Alegre/RS, Brazil. Among them, there was a rock band, Joy Division style, called Almost Some.
In 2004, Chris was invited by two friends, former members from a punk band called Herege, to form Cumulus Nimbus, mixing grunge elements from the 90’s and heavy metal.
In 2007, Cumulus Nimbus ended with the departure of the drummer and, in the beginning of 2008, Chris got started with the Jimi Crowley Project, with Rafael Meirelles, former bassist from Herege and Cumulus Nimbus, which left the band in the middle of 2008. Then, Chris went on, alone, writing and recording songs that became part of the first EP, called Kill the Human Being, containing 7 songs and one cover, That’s The Way (I Like It), from KC & Sunshine Band. The art cover was made by brazilian illustrator Daniel Oldenburg.
Mixing influences that go from the early days of heavy rock, like Led Zeppelin, Secos & Molhados and Black Sabbath, adding 80’s pop, like Depeche Mode and Killing Joke, the weight of bands like Helmet, Nine Inch Nails and Tool, and crazyness, like Celldweller, Chris was able to build a consistent sound, where new elements are introduced. Jimi Crowley can create music tha sound like something completely new in this mix of influences.
Kill the Human Being - CD:
Kill the Human Being is the result of many years of work. Its first notes were written even before the time when Chris joined the band Almost Some. Pretty old ideas that ended up being recycled or remodeled show up, now, in this 15-track CD that contains songs like Human Test II, a questioning about humanity’s present. We Are Not Special shows the vision of a child about her future, and Fearometer, the subconscious talking louder. Also in this EP, there’s a cover of the song That’s The Way (I Like It), from KC & Sunshine Band.
Planned to be a double Record, Kill the Human Being got more 5 instrumental songs that were composed for The Book of Revelations EP, made for TV, radio and videogames.
